Who doesn’t love a bit of pampering especially if you find a deal for two people and you get to experience it with a friend!
So a few weeks ago I took my friend for her birthday to Mayfair Hotel for a 2 for 1 Moroccan Steam Cleansing Ritual Spa day. It was soo much fun and our skin felt so good afterwards!
Our appointment was booked for 5pm but we went there earlier as you can use their facilities, including a sauna, steam room and cold bucket showers ( all included in the booking price) an hour before and after our treatment.
When we arrived we had to fill an a little questionnaire and then the lovely receptionist showed us around the spa facilities and took us to our changing rooms where we were provided with bath robes, towel and a locker. Before we arrived we were told to bring our own slippers. The changing room was lovely, it had two toilets and two showers, hairdryers and straighteners and lots of mirrors and even little cotton pads and flannels to use.
After we got changed into our swimming suits and robes we made our way to the steam room and sauna, which were small but because it was not busy at all we had the whole place to ourselves to spread out and to make ourselves comfortable. After using the steam room and sauna we used to cold bucket showers and there was also a sink full of ice so that you could close your pores and cool down after using the sauna and steam room. We also relaxed for a bit on the hammer beds in the relaxation room before our treatment and helped ourselves to tea and apple.
The Moroccan Cleansing Ritual
For the ritual, we were taken to our own private room, which had a table with all the ingredients needed for the cleansing ritual, a shower and a separate steam room at the back. The lady explained to us how to use the ingredients and in which order and then left so we could start the ritual.
The first ingredient you apply is a white clay to your face and neck followed by a grey/green clay to your whole body. It was so funny to look at my friends face covered in mud whilst doing it, we looked hilarious! Finally you rub dead sea salt onto your skin in circular motions which helps to exfoliate your skin.
TIP: One tip I have is not too shave your legs the day before the cleansing ritual because the salt does hurt your skin.
You then take a seat in the steaming room for about 20 mins until the showers right above your seat come on and you can wash away the mud. You can also step into the shower just to make sure you got rid of all the mud on your skin and after drying yourself then you finally get to use the body oil to moisturise the skin. We had so much fun doing the ritual and our skin felt so good afterwards even after a week later! Anyway after the ritual we went back to the relaxation room and relaxed with another cup of tea. I love tea and we nearly fell asleep!!
I would definitely recommend this cleansing ritual to anyone who would like to spoil themselves and don’t mind doing a bit of the work themselves. I took my friends to this spa day for her birthday so its perfect as a present or even mothers day.
I booked this deal on lastminute.com but it can also be found on Wahanda and the good thing is that you have a year since the day of purchase to book the actual treatment so there is no rush!
Let me know what you think if you go!
