My current favourite restaurants in London

Today I thought I will write something slightly different and recommend my current favourite restaurant/ cafe for breakfast, lunch and dinner in London. I hope you find it useful!

BreakfastThe Breakfast Club Soho

The ultimate best place for breakfast/brunch in London has to be “The Breakfast Club” for me! You can get anything from the traditional English breakfast to pancakes and oats! Everything is just so delicious! Their smoothies are also really nice! Try the Green Smoothie!

LunchTibits Mayfair

This is a hard one because there are so many nice places in London. After much consideration I decided to write about “Tibits”, which is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant where you pay by weight of the food you pile up on your plate. After our delicious food in “Silvoplee” in Helsinki, Finland, my friend and I found this place in London after looking for this kind of restaurant where you pay per weight. I have to point out that I am not a vegetarian but its nice to have meat free days! Also you have such a great choice of homemade vegetarian dishes at Tibits that you certainly won’t miss the meat. Tibits also have super healthy and delicious smoothies and really good desserts!

DinnerDim T London Bridge

Again so many nice places for dinner, but this time the winner is Dim T in London Bridge. I went to University in that area so we used to eat quite frequently at Dim T’s and also the view is AMAZING! There are not many places around where you can eat delicous food overlooking the Tower Bridge at an affordable price! I should add Dim T’s offer oriental dishes and amazing Chinese Tea’s.

My all time favourite dish is the “Sweet Coconut” with Chicken and Lychee Ice Tea. I am still dreaming about this.

If  you are planning to visit them especially on Friday evenings or the weekend, be sure to reserver with them so you don’t have to wait for a table for too long.

Also if you feel like a hot chocolate or tea, go visit AMT they have the BEST Hazelnut Hot Chocolate in the world! They are located inside London Bridge Station. Seriously they are amazing!

I hope I was able to recommend you one or two new restaurants in London. If you go and check them out please let me know if you liked them. Also let me know of any good places you know!

Thanks for reading.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant | London Eats

Have you watched the movie “Forrest Gump”? If you haven’t I don’t judge you because I have only seen it a few ago for the first time. I have always wanted to see this movie because I heard so many good things about it but never got around to it. But when my friend took me to the restaurant “Bubba Gump”, which was inspired by the 1994 film Forrest Gump, I knew I had to see the movie later that day. After all there is also a Jenny in the movie:P

I watched the movie and of course I have loved! It just shows that we are all talented in one way or another and  reminds me of the famous saying:

‘Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

Now back to the restaurant Bubba Gump, the menu is all about the shrimp. So if you love seafood you are in the right place.

Once you are seated on your table and had a look at the menu and are ready to order you turn the “Run Forrest Run” license tag over to “Stop Forrest Stop” and someone will be with you to take your order.

I ordered the Secret Mango Sparkler for a drink and I had the Shrimp Shack Mac & Cheese and the Seafood Hush Pups, both listed as appetisers. They were both very good however because they are both so filling I really struggled with the Hush Pups and my friend had to help me out. Retrospectivdly I would have just order the Shrimp Mac and Cheese, because it is quite big and you can always start with one appetiser and then add another one as you go if you are still hungry or order a main straightaway. Another plus for everyone you can’t eat gluten, they have a gluten free menu!

My friend also told me that sometimes they quiz you about the movie when taking your order, however I was lucky and they didn’t ask me any questions as I didn’t watch the movie! Photos from the characters of the movie can be found all over the walls of the restaurant and there are also screens showing the movie. I had to sit in a way so that I want looking at the maybe yes watch the movie before you go and eat there. Everything makes much more sense too!

Downstairs there is also a little shop where you can buy souvenirs from if you like.

Overall I really liked the restaurant and its a bit different. So if you like the movie Forrest Gump and like shrimp we have a win win situation here.

I hope you like it too.

One peach

One banana

A handful blueberries

One tablespoon Spirulina powder

DIY Painted Travel Tile- Mod Podge Photo Transfer

As you do I was going through my holiday photos recently and was looking at some really beautiful shots which I wanted to have in my room. But rather then putting these photos in frames I came across the idea to transfer them onto tiles. It’s so easy and beautiful!

Here is a simple guide to how to DIY your very own Travel Tile using Mod Podge!

What you will need:

Regular Mod Podge in a matte finish ( I got mine from Hobbycraft)

A foam brush

A photo resized to the size of your tile and printed on normal paper using your printer

Step 1:

Measure your tile and then resize your photo on Picasa or Paint according to that and print.

Cut out the photo. Don’t worry about cutting perfectly straight.

Step 2:

Turn the photo and cover the backside evenly with Mod Podge. But be aware if you take too long to do this, the Mod Podge will start to dry and we don’t want that!

Then once the back of the photo is coated, flip it over and place it onto your tile and position until its right. Try and press down on the photo to get rid of air bubbles.

( I didn’t cut out my photo immediately but it’s so much easier if you do)

Step 3:

If you have excess paper across the edges of the tile you can use sandpaper to shear it off.

I skipped this step because I didn’t have any excess paper.

Step 4:

Finally, just brush Mod Podge all over the front and across the sides to seal everything. Leave it to dry for 1-2 hours.

You are done!

It’s cheap and simple and gives the impression of a painting. Its so beautiful and I bet you won’t use so many photo frames anymore!

Hope you have fun making your own.

Drink Shop & Do Review | London Eats

Have you ever wanted to go to a Cafe that was more than just a Cafe? Then Drink Shop & Do is the right place for you! It is a cafe by day and bar by night. And more importantly they host random events every day which are mostly crafts- and dance-oriented. For example they might do an event on how to make father days card or teach you the moves to Beyonce’s “Run the World” song. The list is endless! In the shop entrance you can find yarn, sweets and many products from  independent designers that you can buy. Upstairs in the cafe bar area you can also buy the vintage furniture, portraits on the wall and even the tea spoon!?It really is a unique little place!

I did my birthday party at Drink Shop & Do ( thanks to my friend who recommended this place to me) and reserved a table for my friends and I, but you can also hire the venue for private parties, hen do’s etc.

The cafe menu is quite simple and limited; they have soups, salads, cheese and charcuterie boards and sandwiches, but it’s amazing! We all choose something different from the menu and it was all so tasty!! I think I had the “Sweet potato & coconut curry with rice & coriander salad” and it was yummy! I would definitely recommend it!

Especially their cakes which are displayed on the counter are mad with a lot of effort and so good!  I tried the Butterscotch Pecan Cheesecake and seriously it was so good! Probably one of the best cakes I have ever tried and I have tried some!

As a tea addict I was really excited to try their tea. The selection of teas offered by Drink Shop & Do is excellent, and they are presented in pretty teacups.

Recently I developed a strong love for Earl Grey and so I was excited to try their ” Duchess Earl Grey“. When the tea came I was shocked because you got a whole can tea pot to yourself, which probably gives you about 3-4 refills!

We had an amazing time at Drink Shop & Do and I seriously can’t wait to go back for some more tea and food and an event!!

A British-German Long Distance Friendship Story

Today I just wanted to write about long distance friendships.

As some of you may know I was born in Germany but we later then moved to the UK when I was about 15. And let me tell you I really didn’t wanted to move, I hated leaving my friends and my old life behind! I still remember the day I told my best friend Santana that I would be moving to the UK in a couple of months and instead of being just negative and sad she tried to cheer me up by saying how amazing it would be to live in London and all the fun we could have there when she comes to visit. I never really thought about this until much later but it was actually much worse for her than me because I was the person leaving her and now she was the one going to school without me and carrying on with her everyday life with me missing in it. I on the other hand got a new life in a different country with new friends that she was never a part of and therefore I was less likely to feel the effect of “losing her” than she would. I hope that didn’t sound too complicated. Anyway at the time I moved to the UK we didn’t have Facebook or Whatsapp so we promised to call each other every two weeks and message via ICQ (an old german messaging service) or good old MSN. And we did and still do! We also visit each other every year. I go back to Germany to spend a few days with her and she comes to London to visit me. At the beginning I remember I used to be really upset when she returned back to Germany after spending a few days with me. We would have an amazing time together like the good old times and then when she left I felt empty like I didn’t know what to do with myself without her. I remember I used to be so upset that I promised myself that I would return back to Germany after finishing school! And the thing is its not like I didn’t make any friends or didn’t like it in the UK but I just felt that I was missing out on more fun with her in Germany. FOMO right?Anyway in the end I didn’t move back because a) London is pretty amazing and b)after a while you get used to this arrangement of seeing your best friend just once or twice a year instead of everyday. You just  learn how to make the best out of every situation. So now we call each other every week and with the help of social media you feel more connected than ever. This doesn’t mean that I don’t miss her anymore but now its easier to contact her whenever I want to and also we started this new thing where we plan to travel the world together instead of just meeting up in London or Germany:P

Anyway today is just a day I miss her and its our birthday soon and I just received a package from her, which inspired me to write this.

Do you have a best friend who lives in a different country? How do you make it work?

I would love to hear about your tips!

March Favourites

Heyyy everyone!

As it is the end of March I thought I would do a post on my “March Favorites” so basically just random things I loved in March.

Number 1

I know I am a little late in the game, but I finally read “The Alchemist” and I really liked it. The book is about a young shepherd boy named Santiago who travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. Along his journey he meets different people who all teach him something, he learns about his dreams, encounters omens and learns to speak to nature. This book to me is a reminder of the famous quote “Life is a journey not a destination”, which is so true because it is the things we learn, the people we meet during this journey that teaches us about life. And a lot of times the doing is more important than the outcome, because even if we fail we tried and it is better to try and fail then to not give it a go and always wonder what could have been.
The message of the book is to follow your dreams and to be prepared to take risks for it. I remember reading an article a few weeks ago about how we as children have all these dreams about what we want to do when we grow up and we perceive the world as an endless array of possibilities. However as we grow up we often take the safe option, the secure 9-5 job that pays the bills. I am not saying that this is wrong, as life probably wouldn’t be this weird beautiful enlightening journey that it is if all our dreams came true. But reading “The Alchemist” just reminded me that its good not to play it safe all the time and to take more risks ( which I am doing by doing this blog in a way and putting myself out there). Because when you decide to follow your dreams the entire universe conspires in your favour which Paulo Coelho called “beginners luck” and we all have witnessed this at one point in our lives.

Number two

So the next one is not really  a March favourite but more like a #GermanFavourite because I was introduced to this mascara by my best friend in Germany a few years ago and since then I have been stocking up on it everytime I go to Germany. I think that the “Essence I Love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara” is as good as the Maybelline Mascara but much cheaper!! Thankfully Wilkinson has now introduced the Essence Brand into their Make Up section and so now you can get this mascara from Wilkinson for only £3! Definitely go and try it out for yourselves and let me know what you think.

Number three

American Horror Story. I am in love with this show- even though season 1 and 2 have given me nightmares. But it was worth it. And they have Evan Peters! I loved every single character he played in the show, which is probably why I have a crush on him and his cute smile is to die for! 😀 For those of you who haven’t seen it yet GO SEE IT NOW. Each season has a different storyline with different sets of characters and settings.
Season 1 for example takes place in LA, California where a family moves into a house haunted by its deceased former occupants. Season 2 takes place in an Ayslum (an institution for the criminally insane) and follows the stories of its inhabitants. Season 3 follows a coven of witches who face off against those who wish to destroy them and season 4 centers around one of the few remaining American freak shows. Season 2 was my favourite just because the story was very unique and interesting oh and scary! Season 5 will be out this October and will take place in a hotel.. I can not wait!!

Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful day peeps!

When you read this I would have just retured from New Orleans/New York City!!My first time ever in the Big Apple! And I am soooo excited and I can’t hide it…So stay tuned for my next NYC travel blog 😉
